It’s a zip wire like no other. On the Lucanian Dolomites, in the heart of Basilicata, between the villages of Castelmezzano and Pietrapertosa, you can take off and admire the region from a different point of view!
Il Volo dell’angelo, or the Flight of the Angel, is one of Basilicata’s most exhilarating tourist attractions and is not for the faint-hearted!
Those who wish, can fly along a steel cable, securely suspended at 400 meters, between the peaks of Castelmezzano and Pietrapertosa, two villages considered part of the most beautiful towns in Italy; the speed reaches 120 km per hour and the flight will last a little bit more than 1 minute. During the trip you will be fascinated by the beauty of the landscape, and after you will want to visit this marvelous region, with its peaks that are 15 million years old, and earned the right to be defined as the Dolomiti Lucane.
The flight has two lines, the first, known as the “San Martino” line, starts from Pietrapertosa (altitude 1020m) and arrives in Castelmezzano (arrival altitude 859m) after covering 1415 meters with the top speed of 110 km / h. The “Peschiera” line starts from Castelmezzano (altitude 1019 meters) and arrives in Pietrapertosa (arrival altitude 888m), covering 1452 meters with the top speed of 120 km/h.
The Volo dell’Angelo operates in the summer months, every day except Mondays, typically from May to September.
