Fruitful Project

The Region of Puglia is currently participating in a new initiative: La frutta nelle scuole (Fruit in schools).

The idea started in March this year and involves giving fresh fruit regularly to 71,000 children in 185 primary schools in Puglia. The aim is to include all Puglia’s primary schools in the project in the school year 2010/2011.

The children are given the best quality fruit (Certified Dop and Igp), organic where possible, and which is selected according to the season.

Let’s hope the children enjoy their snacks and the education authorities and parents will soon start seeing the fruits of their labours!
